Secretary of Energy of São Paulo

João Carlos de Souza Meirelles is a civil engineer, graduated from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo. With experience in the legislative and executive, Meirelles was alderman of São Paulo, where he held the post of chairman of the Board.

In the executive sector, was state secretary of Agriculture and Supply 1998-2002, Science, Technology, Economic Development and Tourism between 2003 and 2006, as well as Special Advisor for Strategic Affairs of the Governor of the State of São Paulo in 2013. Since 2015 is State Secretary for Energy and Mining and is currently president of the National Forum of State Secretariats of Mines and Energy and represents the Forum in the National Council of Energy Policy (CNPE).

Meirelles has held prominent positions in councils and associations. He was president of Amazon Business Association (AEA), president of the National Council of Beef Cattle, coordinator of the Productive Chain of Bovine Livestock Mercosur Forum, vice president of the World Secretariat Meat (IMS) and director of the Northern Frontier Engineering and Development.
